Barkcloth fabric cityscape, mid century vintage, architectural fabric

Sorry, this item has sold.

This listing is for 1 vintage woven cotton barkcloth drapery panel that measures 66" long x 40" wide -- this measurement does NOT include the 2.5 - 3" top and bottom hems nor does it include the 1.5" selvage side seams. The top hem was made for the old drapery pleated style metal hooks. Within the measured 66" - there are 6 of the large pink canopied cherry trees - and a smaller tree that is on the left of the bigger tree -- and -- 3 images of the gate / building that is in the middle area. These would be perfect for creating pillows or seat coverings. Part of the canopy of the smaller tree on the left (as you look at the fabric) goes across the left selvage seam a bit.

Fab 50s architectural rendering of a mid century apartment building with a large decorative pink blooming tree in front of it. Underneath the tree is a chartreuse-yellow green shadow. The large tree / building and shadow vignette is about 18" long x 19" wide. This print uses lighter and darker shades of grey to create depth and details. Use the zoom to see the multi-level building details like windows, stone work and the iron gate. The lighter grey ground has some slight pinkish tinge in it under certain lighting. Colors are matched as close to the original as possible. I hand soaked this in Restoration powder and let it air dry - which I would recommend in the future. The colors are sharp and still have great depth.

Condition note -- The only condition note on this piece is mostly on the reverse side where you can see two yellowed vertical "stripes". These are age related due to the fabric being folded on the reserve --- there are a few small sections on the right side of the fabric that slightly show the yellowing - but these areas are not obvious and are difficult to capture in photos. See the last photo for the reverse side and notice the arrrows pointing to one yellow stripe. The cotton fabric fibers are in excellent condition. The surface of this woven barkcloth has a knubby texture - like that of a shantung weave or linen look. Zoom in to see.

As shown in the last photo, all fabric orders leave my shop packaged for gift giving -- neatly pressed and folded, tied with cute vintage ribbon and wrapped in vintage pattern paper - the package is topped with one of my favorite vintage playing cards or other fun ephemera to serve as "thank you" cards.

Thank you for visiting my little "mom no pop" shop where I enjoy finding VHTF and OOP fabrics in all motifs . I rescue vintage yardage still in reusable condition for your home decor or sewing needs.

I hope you enjoy browsing all of my shop sections.

This cloth is even more beautiful in person than in pictures. The panel is larger than expected. It arrived before I was even looking for it. Everything about this transaction was better than expected. How often does that happen?
