This rare and stunning 1960s belt features a beautiful iridescent abalone shell / mother-of-pearl shell buckle with a silver toned stretch belt. The buckle is marked Schreiner NY on the reverse. In this design, Schreiner lets the beauty of nature do the design work and only elaborates with the filagree backing and belt end caps. He uses the beautiful silvery white and iridescent abalone shell in a simple rectangular shape. Please zoom in to see this lovely fashion statement accessory from one of the most collected jewelry designers.
The belt and shell buckle are in excellent - rarely worn condition. The belt is silver in tone and narrow -- approx. 1/8" wide (about 3/16ths).
Unstretched, the belt itself measures 26" long - it can stretch to 29" but that is the max (these lengths don't include the buckle).
The belt buckle itself measures 1.5" long x 1 1/4" wide -- the thick shell is secured/adhered into the filigree "frame" - the back is marked Schreiner New York. Great for repurposing into a OOAK bespoke piece.
